Dominion Square

Built in 1878 by Robert Davies as the Dominion Brewery, Dominion Square stands on the north side of Queen Street East at Sumach as one of Corktown's most notable industrial heritage assemblages, a once-sprawling complex of buildings, courtyards and stables that helped define Toronto's brewing and distilling district for nearly 60 years. Following the brewery's closure in 1936, the surviving brick-and-beam structures were carefully restored between 1987 and 1990, pairing original red brick masonry and exposed timber beams with a modern glass elevator tower that opens striking views of the heritage interior.
